Dr Edward McCARTHY
MB BS, FRACGP, Dip Paediatrics
Dr McCarthy graduated from University of Sydney in 1988. He received a graduate Diploma of Paediatrics in 1993 and became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1995.

He has a keen interest in providing comprehensive medical care to all age groups with special interests in children’s health, skin disorders, diabetes and care of the aged. Dr McCarthy is a member of the RACGP.

Yamba Medical Centre is a fully accredited general practice. This means we strive to provide the highest standards of care and service.

HOURS
Mon to Thursday    8.30 am – 5.30 pm
Friday                     8.30am – 1pm

APPOINTMENTS
Please phone for an appointment. If you need a longer appointment with the doctor please tell the receptionist. Please let the receptionist know if your problem is serious or urgent so that it can be dealt with promptly. Please notify us beforehand if you are unable to attend your appointment. Please contact the practice by phone or in person. We do not take emails regarding clinical matters as it is unsecure.

HOUSE CALLS
The doctor is available to visit you at home if you are too sick to come to the surgery. Please ring 6646 9990 in the morning if possible so that house calls can be made to suit your needs.

AFTER-HOURS
When the surgery is closed, please ring 6646 9990. A recorded message will give the name and contact number of the doctor on call.

OUR PRACTICE

Our reception staff  Marie,Kath and Jackie are available to make bookings and provide help in any way.

Our practice nurses Toni and Ashley are qualified to perform Pap smears, Lung tests & ECGs, give Immunisations, manage Wounds and assist in Health Assessments. 

The doctor will need to see you for repeat prescriptions and referrals to specialists.

If you have any suggestions or complaints, please speak to your doctor or one of the receptionists or contact the HCCC (ph 1800043159).

All patient information and medical records are strictly confidential.

Please phone after 2pm for investigation results.

TELEPHONE CALLS

You can contact your doctor by ringing during surgery hours. Emergency calls will always be put straight through.

Please notify staff if you have a serious illness which requires prompt attention.

FEES

Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash, cheque, credit cards and EFTPOS.

Pensioners, Health Care Cardholders and Veterans Affairs cardholders are charged a discounted fee.

Our schedule of fees is displayed at the surgery. If you have any difficulty paying our fees, please discuss this with us.
